SCITUATE – Declaring that information about students and tax dollars are of the utmost importance to parents and citizens, Democratic School Committee candidate Jean Esposito pledges in her press release a complete overhaul and update of the School Department website and communication system.
“In the 21st Century, it is unacceptable as a parent, teacher, and taxpayer that current School Committee minutes are not online nor information about school spending, test scores, or just basic information about what is going on behind the school house door,” Esposito noted.
Since retiring in 2009, Esposito said that she personally tried to navigate the School Department’s website and that of Scituate High School. She said she found that the information on it is often outdated, difficult to find, and in most cases nonexistent.
“The best way to improve our schools and ensure that our tax dollars are being spent wisely is to provide the public, parents, students, taxpayers, and teachers alike an easy and updated web-based link to all our information,” Esposito said. “I taught mathematics and computer science at the high school and at colleges for many years and I know how easy and simple it will be to bring our schools’ information to the public by making it more accessible and understandable for everyone.”
