SCITUATE GOP AND REP. CANDIDATE LUCCI MISS FILING DEADLINE

In another blow to open government and transparency to the electin process, both the Scituate GOP and the campaign of Marco Lucci missed an important filing deadline with the State Boad of Elections regarding campaign fundraising and expenditures.
Under state law, the reports were due to be filed on October 5 for he reporting period from 7/1/2010 to 10/4/2010.
“The purpose of campaign finance reports is to allow the voters and the public to see where campagins get thier money, how it is spent, and how itis raised,” said Carol Costa, Chair of tthe SDTC.
“The fact that both campaigns missed this deadline just 28 days prior to an election demonstrates a lack of accountabililty and transparancy that have been the hallmarks of the local GOP,” Costa said.
The State Board of Elections has the ability and obligation to impose fines for late reports.
